How to Inject Your Weight Loss Medication

Before You Begin: Gather Supplies

  • Medication vial
  • Syringe
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Bandage (optional)
  • Sharps container (for safe disposal)

Step 1: Prepare the Medication

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  2. Place all your supplies on a clean surface.
  3. Wipe the rubber top of the medication vial with an alcohol wipe.
  4. Remove the cap from the plunger end of the syringe.
  5. Remove the cap from the needle.
  6. Insert the needle into the vial and tilt the vial slightly.
  7. Pull back the plunger to draw up the exact amount of medication your provider prescribed.
  8. If you're not ready to inject right away:
  9. Carefully slide the needle into its cap without touching the needle.
  10. Place the syringe in the refrigerator until you're ready to use it.

Step 2: Choose and Clean the Injection Site

  1. Choose a fatty area of your body, such as:
  2. The belly (at least 2 inches away from the belly button)
  3. The front of the thigh
  4. The back of the upper arm (may need assistance)
  5. Clean the area with an alcohol wipe.
  6. Use a circular motion, starting from the center and moving outward.
  7. Allow the skin to dry completely before injecting.

Step 3: Give the Injection

  1. Remove the needle cap if it’s still on.
  2. With one hand, gently pinch a section of skin at the injection site.
  3. Hold the syringe like a pencil and insert the needle at a 45 to 90-degree angle.
  4. Before injecting, pull back on the plunger slightly:
  5. If you see blood, remove the needle and start over with a new syringe and site.
  6. If no blood appears, slowly push the plunger all the way down to inject the medication.
  7. Remove the needle and release the pinched skin.

Step 4: After the Injection

  1. Place the used syringe directly into a sharps container.
  2. Gently press the injection site with an alcohol wipe.
  3. Apply a bandage if needed.
  4. Return the medication vial to the refrigerator immediately.

Enhancing Semaglutide with Glycine: A Smarter Approach to Weight Loss

Protect Your Muscle While You Lose Fat

Semaglutide is a powerful tool in helping patients lose weight—but like many weight loss medications, it can also lead to a reduction in lean muscle mass, not just fat. That’s where glycine comes in.

What Is Glycine?

Glycine is a naturally occurring amino acid that supports many key functions in the body, including:

  • Muscle repair and maintenance
  • Anti-inflammatory response
  • Collagen production for healthy skin, joints, and tissues

Why Combine Glycine with Semaglutide?

When you're losing weight, especially quickly, your body may break down muscle along with fat. Muscle is critical—not just for strength, but for keeping your metabolism active and supporting long-term weight maintenance.

Adding glycine to your semaglutide treatment can help:

  • Preserve muscle mass during weight loss
  • Support your body’s recovery and repair processes
  • Reduce inflammation linked to muscle breakdown
  • Improve overall body composition and health outcomes

Possible Side Effects of Semaglutide + Glycine—and How to Manage Them

While semaglutide combined with glycine can offer powerful support for fat loss and muscle preservation, it’s important to understand and prepare for possible side effects. Most are mild to moderate and can be managed with simple lifestyle adjustments.

Common Side Effects of Semaglutide

  • Nausea
  • Bloating or gas
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Decreased appetite
  • Fatigue or low energy (early on)

These side effects are often most noticeable during the first few weeks as your body adjusts. They tend to decrease over time.

Possible Side Effects of Glycine

Glycine is generally well tolerated, but at higher doses, some people may experience:

  • Mild stomach upset
  • Drowsiness or grogginess
  • Soft stools

These are uncommon and usually improve with dosage adjustment.

How to Manage Side Effects

  • Start low and go slow: Your provider will typically begin with a lower dose and gradually increase it to help your body adjust.
  • Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can ease nausea, support digestion, and prevent constipation.
  • Eat small, protein-rich meals and healthy fats: This helps reduce nausea and supports muscle maintenance.
  • Call your provider if symptoms persist: Persistent discomfort may mean your dosage or timing needs to be adjusted.ed with a B-12 injection.
