Botox
Botox is a fast and safe method used (usually with immediate results) for dramatically improving the appearance of worry lines (forehead), glabellar lines (frown lines), nasolabial folds, perioral lines, smile lines and oral commissures. It is also very effectively used in creating a more pronounced mouth and fuller lips. Botox can be used to erase wrinkles and relax muscles in specific facial areas such as vertical forehead frown creases and crow’s-feet around the eyes. It is injected directly into the frown muscle or the wrinkle area. Within 24 to 72 hours the muscles will relax and the wrinkles and frown will disappear. The frustrated, "tired and angry look" on the face will disappear and the patient's skin will look younger with a smoother.
Botox Basics
Botox is the brand name of botulinum toxin type A. It's made from a very small dose of the toxin. Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles, blocking nerve signals to those muscles and preventing them from contracting. That makes wrinkles relax and soften. Botox is approved for the "temporary improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age," says the web site of Allergan, the company that makes Botox.
Most botox users are working moms
Starlets and superstars aren't the typical users of Botox, says the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Most Botox users are middle-aged working mothers in their 40s and 50s, according to a new survey.
The most frequently cited reason in the survey was "to look more relaxed, less stressed."
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are now most commonly used to fill in facial lines, wrinkles, and creases, to give a lifting effect to the outer eyebrows, to fill in lower eyelid depressions, or to redefine and/or enhance the lips.
A dermal filler is a gel substance that is injected into the skin, using very fine needles, to restore volume, lift and smooth lines and wrinkles.
Fillers can be used for an instant effect in smoothing some of the deeper lines and folds, as well as fine lines in the lip area, and lip augmentation. Following a topical or local anesthetic, the filler gently adds volume to the skin so lines fade immediately. The filler used is natural, derived from materials already found in the body. The effects of a dermal filler usually last approx 3 - 6 months depending on a number of personal factors.
Whether used alone to correct small facial areas, or in conjunction with other surgical or non-surgical procedures, it is probably the most popular treatment being used today in the skin care field today.
